I talk about Biological Best A LOT!

In fact, my whole approach is about supporting your Small to sleep at their biological best.

It’s not about pushing them to join the elusive ‘sleep through crew’ and sleep through the night. Although this can happen if they’re developmentally and biologically ready to do so.

What is biological best?

Biological best simply means that your Small is sleeping the best of their ability and waking up for the feeds they need. If they need a feed at night, they wake for this and then are easily settled again after. This is all I ever want for a family!

This looks different for everyone, because your Small is one of a kind and so is their sleep.

However, ballpark biological best, we’re aiming for:

  • Age-appropriate naps

  • A consistent bedtime routine that they enjoy and participate in

  • They’re falling asleep within 20-30 with or without support after their bedtime routine

  • They can stitch their sleep cycles together at night. Unless they’re unwell, hungry, or there’s a reason why they can’t.

  • If they need a night feed, they feed and settle back to sleep smoothly afterwards. 

I’m always very honest with you that I can’t guarantee: 

  • What they’re biological best will look like

  • What time their bedtime or wake-up will be

  • That they’ll wake for a feed at a certain time/times

  • That they will be able to sleep through the night without needing support

  • How many feeds they’ll need over-night

  • How long their stretches of sleep will be

I can’t guarantee any of the above because no one really can! However, IF sleep is unsustainable or isn’t working for you, your Small, or their sleep, chances are we can make changes with care to maximise everyone’s sleep. 

What I can guarantee is that I’ll always be honest with you. Always! I’ll only ever suggest booking in a paid sleep service if:

  • I felt working together would benefit your family

  • Your sleep aims are realistic and achievable

  • I’m quietly confident we can make improvements to your whole family’s sleep!
